Dear Potential Sponsor,

We extend our heartfelt invitation for you to join the 9th Annual Filthy Phil Secord Memorial Golf Tournament as a distinguished sponsor. This cherished event, slated for August 22nd, 2026, at Rolling Meadows Golf Course, epitomizes community spirit and dedication to Wellspring Niagara and Cancer Awareness through the beloved game of youth hockey in our region.

It is with great pride that we reflect on the success of the past eight years, welcoming a full roster of participant’s time and again (144 golfers). Since 2018 we have raised roughly $90,000 together! Year over year, we aspire to surpass our previous accomplishments, and your support can make a significant difference.

The tournament commemorates Phil, Ken and Sue Secord, who all experienced the devastating impact of cancer. Heartbreak struck in 2017 when their youngest son, Phil, lost his 23-month long battle with Bi-lineage Leukemia. Just 8 weeks later, father Ken succumbed to Brain Cancer (Glioblastoma) after a horrific 10-month battle. A mere 6 weeks after these already catastrophic losses, mother Sue was diagnosed with Stage 4 Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer and lost her battle not 5 months later. All three passed away within 8 months of one another, and this absolute tragedy proved a rallying cry for their remaining son, Shane.

The Filthy Phil Secord Memorial Golf Tournament was founded on the premise of his friends and family “having one” for Phil following his passing (fall 2017). The inaugural event was relatively small, but very well attended, and the idea to pursue more was born. With the intention of remembering Filthy Phil and his parents Ken and Sue, while raising cancer awareness in support of one of Phil's true passions, youth hockey, the groundwork was laid to turn this into an annual event and fundraiser.

Since the first official tournament in 2018, funds raised through the Filthy Phil Secord Memorial Golf Tournament have enabled organizers to donate a custom alternate team set of lavender Cancer Awareness jerseys with a special patch specifically in Phil's honour and a Wellspring Niagara sponsorship bar. Teams from the Garden City Minor Hockey Association’s Jr. Falcons, the St. Catharines Female Hockey Association’s “Brock Jr. Badgers”, and the Niagara North Stars AAA Hockey Association continue to be enthusiastic recipients of these jerseys. The colour chosen - lavender - is the colour used to represent all cancers, which seemed fitting under the circumstances. After the jerseys are purchased, all remaining proceeds are donated to Wellspring Niagara each year. This annual event has grown exponentially over the past 8 years, thanks primarily to our generous sponsors and amazing volunteers!

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you once again for your interest in our tournament and our cause, and to invite you to support our 2026 effort. At this time, options include:

  • Hole Sponsorship ($200): Sponsor a hole and receive an 18” × 24” sign displayed at a designated location. Simply provide your message, logo, or artwork by August 1, 2026.

  • In-kind contributions such as gift certificates or swag for participants

  • Donations of any denomination

  • Booth setup (we encourage sponsor presence at the event!)

In all cases, acknowledgement of your support will appear in the event program, and across all our social media feeds (@filthyphil02 and www.filthyphilgolf.com)!

We truly appreciate every bit of the generous support we receive and look forward to making further contributions to Cancer Awareness through Niagara Youth Hockey and support to Wellspring Niagara in Phil's memory!

Greatest Regards,
